IF ANYONE

from the Georgetown/Erin/Mississauga/Milton, ONTARIO area is interested in going to the Tottenham Equestrians jumper show on August 19, PLEASE COME GET MY HORSE :(

Its SUPER inviting, 2’3 / 2’6 / 2’9 jumper classes, jumpers guaranteed not to start until after noon…. so NOT an early show day, hooray!

Its honestly the one show I want to take her to and no one from this retarded excuse of a riding stable where she is at wants to go… I also probably don’t have a coach which is fine with me but seriously…..

anyone..

Wessle left on Wednesday…

even though he’s a complete jerk, I’m going to miss him. My coach said she couldn’t ride him anymore because he hurt her back.. and she only had 2 students that could actually ride him… one being me, and the other just bought a house so she was stopping riding.

So she got a 4 year old, 98% TB mare, who’s unbroke and been in a stall for maybe a week.

On one hand, Im kinda upset because I can’t get on Wessle every thursday and prove everyone wrong. I can’t get on Wes anymore and get him over all the cross country jumps on the first try when the other girls can’t get the schoolies over them at all. I bonded with him in a way I never though I would allow myself, and yet, here I am again.. left horseless at this damn barn again.

First Caradoc, who I now watch refuse the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen… and know that if I was the one on him, we’d be getting over everything on the first try. everytime.

and now Wessle.. as frustrating as he was, that last stadium lesson was actually unbelieveable and I dont think I could ever forget him, even if i so desperately wanted to.

So on Thursday, I rode Travis the schoolie. He’s a 17hh Clyd/ Hackney cross. He’s a bit of a jerk but he didnt go through a lot of formal training in his transition from menonite driving horse to riding eventing horse.. He still doesn’t quite understand the point of putting his head down, let alone framing. And he isn’t really all that scopey. he jumps UP, not across..

I rode him basically when he first came to my barn.. helped him learn and enjoy cross country, tried to help him understand that bending was a good idea.. and the impossible task of leg yielding. He was also A LOT more of a saint back then.

In my lesson, I got him on the bit with no problem, we jumped a 3’3 gymnastic line with ease and then a whole 2’9-3’ course……

I just can’t win anymore.. I need a challenge, something to build with.. not something I can figure out in 5 minutes and then never ride ever again. The only time that being an amazing catch rider is a downfall is when you’re looking for something to change for the better.

Yesterday my horse thought it would be fun to start crow hopping when I was getting on him. Then proceeded to gallop around the field bucking and crow hopping some more. And then go running through the pond.. All the while with the reins flailing around. Then he stopped with the herd and snapped one of the cheek peices on the bridle. And yeah, thats what happened to my left knee when I fell. Its a fucking balloon. Gravity still works just incase anyone was wondering.

oh yeah and don’t mind my Birkenstock tan on my feet.

Signing the Liability Waivers for events absolutely KILLS me LOL

“I acknowledge that the sport of Horse Trials and Eventing is a high-risk sport and that I am participating at my own risk and in full knowledge of the hazards and potential hazards which are inherent in this sport.”

Sign away my life to this? Abso-fucking-lutely!

Middy, March 24

I know the photo is dark but theres no way to fix the lighting with the way its lit in the photo.. But this is just the look I remember him by and is the familiar look I get from him from day to day. I have nothing, no words to describe it. It’s the soft look in his eye, its his happy disposition, its just the look on his face. <3

I don’t really know how to explain how amazing my ride was today. Something in Middy just clicked and he was sort of back to the horse I know he is. There’s a part that breaks my heart about him right now but it won’t get better [potentially] until the summer.. I don’t know if it will.
We were fortunate enough to be able to ride outside today, it was so beautiful! I tried one of the school’s all- purpose saddles on him and decided to ride in that instead of his dressage saddle. We were doing some leg yeilding down the long sides and it just clicked. It felt amazing. He started submissing his head and going down on the bit and into the frame.
He felt good going both left and white in the trot and he just felt amazing. We tried the canter and although his canter has never been balanced before, it was alot more controlled and he was able to collect a bit more then usual and could physically do more.
I just dont know how to explain how he continually amazes me and all the memories I have with him. He means so much to me and I couldn’t imagine what I would be doing if he hadn’t made it last year. I love you Middy, I swear I always will. <3
